On September 27, 1981, the City of Pleasant Hill celebrated its twenty-fifth birthday. The day-long events included water fights sponsored by the volunteer fire department, displays, an art contest for elementary students, the Jaycees' arts and crafts fair, and booths by various civic and business groups. All activities were planned and coordinated by the Silver Celebration Committee chaired by Richard Henry.

The highlight of the day was the Silver Celebration program. A presentation of twenty-five plaques was made. Each plaque was presented to someone who had contributed greatly toward the establishment of Pleasant Hill or who had played an important role in the town's growth. A special award was also given to the oldest citizen who has lived in Pleasant Hill all of its 25 years.

The recipients were introduced by Richard Henry and presented with a plaque by Mayor Larry Hopper. Those named for their contributions were:
